Late-Night Robber Climbs Through McDonald's Drive-Thru Window

A road rage gunman and a drive-thru bandit were both reported in Evanston Friday.

EVANSTON, IL — An agile robber managed to force his way through a fast-food drive-thru last Friday and forced an employee to open a safe before slipping out the same way he had entered, Evanston police said. Around 4:15 a.m., a robber "with a thin build" climbed through the drive-thru window and grabbed the clerk at the McDonald's, 1117 Howard St.

The robber pushed her to the floor and punched her before forcing her into a back room. He managed to take a black leather bag containing $1,250. He then fled out the 24-hour drive-thru window.

The drive-thru bandit was described as a 6-foot to 6-foot-5-inches black man between 150 and 170 pounds wearing all dark clothing, according to Evanston Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan.

Gun Drawn Over Traffic Dispute

Evanston police are also investigating a separate, unrelated incident that also took place Nov. 10.

A 32-year-old Evanston man was driving in the 2000 block of Dobson Street around 3 p.m. when he got into a traffic altercation with the driver of a gray Nissan sedan, police said.

The driver of the Nissan, described as a 50 to 60-year-old white man, pulled out a black handgun and pointed it at the other motorist.

"You want some of it?" he asked the man, according to police reports.

The Evanston man sped away and reported the incident to police.
