Loaded Handgun Found on 16-Year-Old Evanston Boy

A teenager was charged with multiple felonies after a traffic stop on Dodge Avenue Wednesday night.

EVANSTON, IL - A 16-year-old Evanston boy was charged with a pair of felonies Wednesday night after police recovered a loaded handgun from a traffic stop on Dodge Avenue.

The boy was a back seat passenger in a vehicle in the 1800 block of Dodge when police stopped the car, which included three other juvenile occupants, at 6:55 p.m.

During the stop, police say the boy exited the vehicle and dropped a loaded Para-Ordinance .45 caliber handgun on the ground.

He was transported to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with unlawful use of weapon/public way and unlawful use of weapon/under 18 years of age, both felonies, in addition to two counts of no valid FOID card and a citation for failure to wear safety belt.
