Mayor Tisdahl and Ex-Mayor Morton at Ladd Arboretum festivities

A light rain proved no impediment to a spirited gathering at the Ladd Arboretum Saturday at 10:30 a.m. A brand new sign and shade garden were dedicated at the corner of Green bay and McCormick and many more happenings in the Arboretum were noted:

           a. A Yellow Tractor vegetable garden, consisting of five 4' x 8' containers, set up last year by NU Kellogg students.
           b. A Prairie Plant information plot.
           c. A new two-mile trail around the Ecology Center area marked out by LAC member Jim LaRochelle.
           d. A renovation of the Grady Bird Sanctuary.
           e. A Bird and Butterfly "bridge" on a strip in the parking lot.

Pictured are Mayor Tisdahl and her dog Comet, Former Mayor Lorraine Morton, Paul D'Agostino, Asst. Dir. of Public Works/Forestry, and Ladd Arboretum Committee members Kathie Biddle, Tracy Hubbard, Jim LaRochelle, and Pam Johnson. The LAC is chaired by Virginia Beatty. The new two-mile trail (map avail. in the Ecol Ctr) should be a great benefit for all Evanstonians and our neighbors and friends.
