New Restaurant Opening On Howard Street

A new Evanston restaurant is opening on Howard Street.

The Amazing Kale Burger, DNAinfo.com Chicago reports, will hold a grand opening for an eatery planned for months at 741 Howard St. - on the Evanston side of the Chicago border.

The restaurant’s top-ticket item, of course is its namesake, “a nutrition-packed veggie burger that was only sold at farmers markets and some neighborhood eateries,” according to DNAinfo’s Benjamin Woodard.

Opening the newest Evanston eatery took some work, however. Owner Brandon Byxbe told Woodard in October the Howard Street storefront “was totally disgusting” when he first got the keys the month prior.

Byxbe said he first started making the 156-calorie burgers for himself before partnering with Green Spirit Kitchen on Ridge Avenue to help sell the items at Farmer’s Markets.
