Northwestern Will Expand to San Francisco

New space will open in the Golden Gate City in spring of 2016.

EVANSTON, IL - All across the nation, Northwestern is becoming such a strange vibration.

The Evanston-based University will open a new space in San Francisco in the spring of 2016 featuring two of the best academic programs in the country, according to a recent news release from the school. It will further enhance the school’s leadership at the intersection of engineering, computer science, journalism and integrated marketing communications.

The new space, which will take shape at 44 Montgomery St. at the former Wells Fargo Bank headquarters, will be anchored by the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications and the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science.

It will feature a state-of-the-art presentation area to engage with alumni and partners in the Bay Area, collaborative classrooms and a flexible design studio. It will be used for quarterlong residencies, short immersion experiences and events for alumni and collaborators.

“Our goal is to become the world leader in journalism, integrated marketing communications, innovation and technology,” said Medill Dean Bradley J. Hamm.
