NU Takes Series Against Iowa
The Northwestern Wildcats softball team took three of four from Iowa to improve to 21-7.

After Friday's perfect game from Danielle Williams, the Wildcats went on to win two of the next three. NU took the series against Iowa 3-1.
Northwestern was down 6-0 heading into the third. With Rachel Lewis on base, Maeve Nelson singled for NU's first run of the day.
After Iowa tacked on another run in the fourth, Nelson homered with Morgan Newport on base in the fifth. Angela Zedak followed with a solo shot to make it 7-3.

In the sixth, with the bases loaded, Jordyn Rudd reached on an error, which scored two. Newport singled to score Lewis and tie the game. Zedak's double made it 9-7.
Lauren Boyd picked up the win. Fresh off her Friday perfect game, Danielle Williams got the save, striking out five of the six batters she faced in 2.0 innings pitched.

Northwestern took the night cap 7-4. This time, the Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
In the third, Newport doubled to bring in Rudd, who was on base. Nelson singled and Newport snuck home. Zedak tripled to score Nelson and Sydney Supple singled to score Zedak.
NU added three more runs in the sixth. Nelson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Skyler Shellmyer. A wild pitch scored another run. Nelson singled driving in the final run.
Iowa scored four in the sixth, but it wasn't enough. NU came away with the double header sweep.
Williams picked up another win. She pitched 5.2 innings, striking out nine and allowing six hits and three walks. Sydney Supple got the save.
In the Sunday finale, Iowa scored four in the first. Zedak homered in the second, but Iowa answered with one in the third to get the lead back to three. In the fourth, Zedak scored with some clever baserunning after a Cuchran sacrifice fly. That would be it though, as the game ended 4-2 Iowa.
Lauren Dvorak took the loss. Boyd had a good day in relief though. She allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts in five innings.
The Wildcats are now 21-7. They will be back on the field next weekend to face Michigan in Ann Arbor.
