Evanston Police Investigate Suspicious Incidents Involving Juveniles At Community Center (patch.com) — Parents and residents near Evanston's Robert Crown Community Center are being alerted after police detailed several recent incidents involving a 27-year-old man allegedly approaching juveniles and repeatedly trespassing at the facility. Officers have charged the man with criminal trespass, increased visible patrols around the center and nearby schools, and are asking anyone with information to contact Evanston police or submit anonymous tips.

3. Parks Board approve Philbrick playground plans (evanstonnow.com) — Evanston's Parks and Recreation Board has approved the "Nature's Way" design for a long-awaited renovation of Philbrick Park's playground, a $1.1 million project expected to be completed next year. The board also heard that the Avenue of the Righteous memorial will likely move to Bent Park instead, after Philbrick was dropped from the list of potential new sites.

4. New sidewalk mural going in downtown (evanstonnow.com) — A colorful new sidewalk mural on Maple and Church is brightening downtown Evanston and celebrating the nearby Northlight Theater. Designed by urban planner Robin Marquand and funded by the city, the temporary artwork anchors a growing Entertainment District that also features theater-themed sidewalk decals and a soon-to-reopen AMC movie theater.

5. Group of parents continues to advocate for less iPad time in District 65, will push to ban generative AI (evanstonroundtable.com) — Parents in Evanston/Skokie District 65 are ramping up efforts to cut classroom iPad use and push for a ban on generative AI for students, just as school board policy talks continue. The Screen Sense Evanston group is questioning costly one-to-one iPad purchases, curriculum choices, and student data privacy, while district leaders defend technology as necessary for state mandates and assessments.
