Pit Bulls Bit Dog Owner and Maltese on Sherman Avenue: Cops

Evanston police investigating a previous alleged incident involving same dogs.

A pit bull bit a Maltese dog and its owner in the 1100 block of Sherman Avenue Tuesday afternoon, according to news released by the city of Evanston.

Police responded to the animal-related disturbance in the 1100 block of Elmwood Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

According to reports, two residents were exiting their vehicle in the alley there with the Maltese dog, which ran to the fence of the residence on Sherman Avenue. At that time, two pit bulls exited the yard and as the Maltese’s owner tried to intervene, one of the pit bulls bit the Maltese and the owner.

A similar, undocumented incident that allegedly involved the same pit bulls in April was reported by an anonymous citizen during the investigation of Tuesday’s incident.
