Police Warn Of Carjacking Attempts, Armed Robbery In Evanston

A pizza delivery driver and several women have been targeted recently near their cars.

EVANSTON, IL — A pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night near Butler Park in Evanston, police said. A 47-year-old Chicago man told police that around 9:04 p.m. he was in his car in the 2100 block of Foster Street when two men walked up to him and put a gun to his head.

They demanded his property, so he turned over his wallet, some cash, cards and his cell phone to the two men, according to police.

Both suspects were reportedly wearing black clothing and were described as black men between the ages of 20 and 25.

The two suspects were last seen fleeing on foot heading south down Foster, according to police.

The delivery drivers's vehicle was not stolen in the robbery.

It was not clear if he had already delivered the pizza before being ambushed by the robbers.

In other incidents Tuesday, someone stole a 2011 blue Toyota four-door parked outside an apartment in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. and someone tried to break into a home on the 1800 block of Hovland Court around 5 p.m.

Separately, a woman in the 1600 block of Simpson Street reported that three men tried to jump into her car while it was parked, pulling on her door handle. The suspects were described as black and between 20 and 25 years of age.

And also Tuesday, a woman exiting her vehicle near her home in the 1400 block of Church Street was approached by two apparent teens, one of whom reportedly had a gun in his hand. She screamed and ran inside and the suspects left.

Last Thursday, an 84-year-old woman was carjacked in an apparent "bump-and-run" style auto theft.
