Robert Crown Community Center and Library Invites For Open House And Invocation Event

At 11 a.m., elected officials, neighbors, City staff, and community and faith leaders will celebrate the invocation of the new facility.

Evanston community members are invited to celebrate, explore and experience the wide variety of programs and activities offered at the brand new Robert Crown Community Center and Library at an open house and invocation event.

The free public event will be held:

Saturday, March 14
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

At the open house, community members of all ages will be able to participate in free ice skating lessons, pottery and art activities, dance demonstrations, preschool programs, gym activities, games, library programs and much more. Magician Gary Kantor will provide entertainment in the lobby area from 10 a.m. to noon.

Open house visitors will receive an event passport encouraging them to explore the facility's many amenities and public spaces, including the gymnasium, library branch, preschool and after school rooms, studio/dance room, multi-purpose room, walking track and ice skating rinks. Those who receive stamps at every location will be entered for a chance to win prizes, including beach tokens, public skate passes and a birthday party package.

Event Schedule

  • 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Free public activities
  • 11 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. - Speakers and invocation
  • 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Free public ice skating and continued activities

The Robert Crown Community Center and Library will open to the public on Saturday, February 29. The entire project, including construction of outdoor turf athletic fields, will be completed in August 2020 following demolition of the previous center.
