Speed Limit on Sheridan Road Will Be Lowered in Evanston

Drivers will soon be restricted to 25 miles per hour or slower on the thoroughfare while in Evanston.

EVANSTON, IL - The speed limit on Sheridan Road in Evanston will soon be lowered from 30 mph to 25 mph.

The City Council voted to make the change, which could be made official as early as next Monday, according to an Evanston Now report.

The speed limit change will affect the road throughout Evanston city limits. The change came as a request from two aldermen during a discussion on plans to add bike lanes and other features to the road.

Northwestern University and the City of Evanston jointly released information recently that thousands of dollars of Northwestern’s yearly gift to the city in 2017 will be spent on the road.
