Squad Car Rammed; Pedestrian Robbed At Gunpoint: Blotter

EVANSTON, IL — The following information comes from the Evanston Police Department as a record of those arrested by police and incidents reported to police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

STOLEN CARS

  • A gray Toyota Camry was reported stolen from a business in the 800 block of Chicago Avenue after staff said it had not been returned since Nov. 28.
  • A Ford was reported stolen from a business in the 2100 block of Dempster Street around 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 23.

ARMED ROBBERY
An armed robbery was reported around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 in the area of Custer Avenue and Dobson Street. A person pulled a gun and demanded property from a person on the sidewalk. A cellphone was reported stolen.

HOME/BUSINESS BURGLARIES

  • Someone got into an apartment in the 800 block of Brummel Street and stole a gaming system between 6:40 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 11.
  • Someone pried off a window screen and burglarized an apartment in the 800 block of Simpson Avenue but nothing was reported stolen around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 11.
  • Someone stole cash from a restaurant in the 600 block of Church Street around 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 12.
  • Someone broke in the back door of an apartment in the 800 block of Case Street between 7:45 a.m. and 4:08 p.m. on Jan. 15, electronic, stereo and gaming equipment were reported stolen.
  • Two apartments were broken into in the 400 block of Keeney Street between 7:30 a.m. and noon on Jan. 17.
  • Jewelry and cash were stolen from an apartment in the 600 block of Brummel Street between Dec. 14 and Jan. 18.
  • Someone pried open a door to a condominium in the 800 block of Brummel Street between 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 and 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 23, with electronics and computer hardware.
  • Someone broke into an apartment in the 200 block of Ridge Avenue between 8 a.m. on Jan. 29 and 10:46 p.m. on Feb. 1, stealing a television, jewelry and linens.
  • Someone broke into a garage and stole power tools from the 1900 block of Darrow Avenue between 8 a.m. on Jan. 29 and 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 30.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON
A resident in the 1000 block of Grove Street was confronted by a person with a knife around 4 a.m. on Jan. 31 at their residence.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY TO POLICE
Someone struck an officer's patrol car around 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 2 in the 1000 block of Foster Street.

ARRESTS

Jessica L. Goodman, 29, of the 8900 block of Lavergne Avenue, Skokie, was arrested at 4:11 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the CVS in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue and charged with retail theft.

Joel N. Childress, 24, of the 1800 block of Leland Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Jan. 8 in the 600 block of Howard Street and charged with intimidation.

A 27-year-old Evanston man was arrested at 10:53 p.m. on Jan. 8 and cited for being a pedestrian under the influence.

A 37-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 12:16 a.m. on Jan. 10 in the 1400 block of Hinman Avenue and charged with disorderly conduct.

Jonathan M. Cross, 30, of the 7000 block of South Sangamon Street, Chicago, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Jan. 10 and charged with driving under the influence.

Christoper K. Cobbs, 36, of the 700 block of Austin Street, Evanston, and Willie A. Watkins, 36, of the 5700 block of Rose Court, Berkley, were arrested in the 800 block of Dodge Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 11. Read more...

Justin D. Neal-Guy, 24, of the 1700 block of Ashland Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around noon on Jan. 14 in the 12100 block of South Parnell Avenue and charged with aggravated battery to police and other offenses. Read more...

Marlon A. Perez, 21, of the 3500 block of West Shakespeare Avenue, Chicago, was arrested and charged with retail theft at the CVS in the 2200 block of Howard Street.

Paul V. McGee, 64, of the 1900 block of Grey Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Jan. 15 at his home and charged with domestic battery.

Carlos Vazquez, 29, of the 4000 block of North Octavia Avenue, Norridge, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 15 at the Evanston Police Department and charged with theft.

Roderick X. P. Walker, 27, of the 1400 block of W. Greenleaf Avenue, Chicago was arrested around 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 16 in the 1100 block of Maple Avenue and charged with trespassing.

Tyjuan E. Lighthall, 21, of the 200 block of West 106th Street, Chicago, and Marlon A. Scott, 23, of the 6500 block of North Seeley Avenue, Chicago, were arrested on Jan. 17. Lighthall was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felony, possession of a firearm without a valid license, possession of ammunition without a valid license and cited for not wearing a seat belt. Scott was charged with felony possession of cannabis with the intent to distribute and one misdemeanor count of possession of cannabis.

Trenton A. Hunt, 18, of the 3300 block of Church Street, Skokie, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 in the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue and charged with trespassing.

Branden B. Eubanks, 25, of the 7500 block of North Hoyne Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 8:11 p.m. on Jan. 17 in the 300 block of Dempster Street and charged with domestic battery.

Latoya M. Smith, 34, of the 700 block of Howard Street, Evanston, was arrested in her block of residence at 9:15 p.m. on Jan. 17 and charged with criminal damage to property.

A 49-year-old Woodstock man was arrested at 10:17 p.m. on Jan. 17 in the 600 block of Ridge Avenue and charged with disorderly conduct.

Thomas Palmer, 45, of the 2600 block of North Harding Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 3 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the Target store in the 2200 block of Howard Street and charged with retail theft.

Steven P. Subar, 57, of the 1400 block of North State Parkway, Chicago, was arrested at midnight on Jan. 20 in the 1900 block of Dempster Street and charged with driving under the influence.

Joshua P. Tyler, 26, of the 1000 block of Ashland Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. on Jan. 21 in the 1000 block of Main Street.

Andy Lau, 49, of the 2700 block of South Cedar Glen Drive, Arlington Heights, was arrested at 11:49 p.m. on Jan. 22 in the 2200 block of Howard Street and charged with driving under the influence.

Demarcus T. Curtis, 27, of the 1500 block of Dodge Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the Grayslake Police Department and charged with aggravated battery.

Dontrell, J. Howard, 39, of the 4300 block of South Ellis Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 2:10 p.m. on Jan. 24 in the 300 block of Chicago Avenue and charged with retail theft.

Debra L. Crestoni, 66, of the 1500 block of Greenwood Street, Evanston, was arrested around 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 25 at the Whole Foods in the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue and charged with retail theft.

John R. Terry, 58, of the 2100 block of the Brummel Street, was arrested at 11:56 p.m. on Jan. 26 in the 1800 block of Dempster Street and charged with driving under the influence.

Terry L. Williams, 55, of the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. on Jan. 27 in the 300 block of Dempster Street and charged with domestic battery.

Christopher L. Rucker, 32, of the 1100 block of Sherman Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 8:15 a.m. on Jan. 27 in the 200 block of Asbury Avenue and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

A 59-year-old Evanston man was arrested at 4:20 p.m. on Jan. 27 at his home and charged with disorderly conduct.

Hafiza Khan, 39, of the 6300 block of North Fairfield Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 at the Target store in the 2200 block of Howard Street and charged with retail theft.

Melissa A. Mackey, 43, of the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 29 in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue and charged with retail theft.

Fawna M. Demma, 33, of the 3000 block of West Fargo Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 3 p.m. on Jan. 29 in the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue and charged with retail theft.

Ryan A. Illg, 28, of the 900 block of Judson Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 4:21 a.m. on Feb. 4 at his home and charged with assault.
