SUV Jumps Curb, Hits Storefront, Driver Leaves Scene Of Evanston Accident

EVANSTON, IL — A three car accident closed Howard Street for about an hour Wednesday morning after the driver of an SUV hit multiple buildings and fled the scene.

The driver of a black Chevrolet Tahoe was heading southbound on Callan when he drove onto the sidewalk, hit the Peckish Pig at 623 Howard Street and kept going, damaging two unoccupied parked cars before striking a building in the 1900 block of Howard on the Chicago side, police said.

The SUV's driver, a man, left the scene of the accident on foot and is being sought by Evanston Police.

Police were unable to immediately provide any additional description, as they continue to review camera footage and interview witnesses.

There were no reported injuries, and Howard street reopened before 9:00 a.m.
