Barricade Standoff Ends in Rogers Park: UPDATE

A man threatening to jump from the top floor of an apartment building has been hospitalized.

CHICAGO, IL - A barricade situation unfolded in Rogers Park Thursday morning and afternoon.

A man threatening to jump from a top floor of an apartment building in the 1600 block of West Farwell has caused the Chicago Police Department to call in a SWAT team, according to a DNAinfo Chicago report.

The man had been seen hanging from the window and telling police he would jump. Police first arrived on scene at 9:45 a.m. The standoff ended just around 2 p.m., according to DNAinfo. The man was hospitalized and no injuries were reported.

The situation has lasted for hours. The man was no longer hanging out the window as of 12:30 p.m., but authorities remain on scene and the SWAT team is continuing negotiations.
