Tasers Purchased for Evanston Cops
30 new devices with video recorders will equip the entire fleet.

EVANSTON, IL - All Evanston police officers will soon be equipped with tasers while on duty after a $60,000 purchase for 30 new devices was approved by the City Council this week.
The model X2P tasers - which will include high definition video cameras - will be paid for out of funds seized by police in narcotics arrests, according to the Evanston RoundTable.
Prior to the purchase, the Evanston Police Department only owned 19 tasers and the use of training on the devices was voluntary.
