Temporary Traffic Control Plans Scheduled in Evanston

Commuters will need to note these changes on Kedzie St., Chicago Ave. and Crawford Ave./Central St.

The city of Evanston will see a number of projects next week (January 26-30) that will call for traffic changes. Here is a look at what will take place.

Temporary Traffic Control Plan for Alley South of Kedzie Street Jan. 26-30

Beginning Monday, January 26, ComEd contractors will perform work on underground facilities in the alley located south of Kedzie St., between Chicago and Hinman Avenues. The project is scheduled to be completed on Friday, January 30.

Parking in the alley will not be allowed in the areas highlighted on the map (see below). However, the north and south entrances to the alley will remain open during the construction project. Please note that if access through this section of the alley is needed, equipment can be moved within 15 minutes of notice.

Temporary Traffic Control Plan for Chicago Ave. Jan. 26-30

A temporary traffic control plan will be implemented on Chicago Ave., between Grove and Davis Streets, from Monday, January 26 through Friday, January 30 to install new water and sewer service at 1515 Chicago Ave.

Work will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Northbound and southbound vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times, with flaggers assisting.

Temporary Lane Closures Planned for Crawford Ave., Central St. Jan. 27-30

Temporary lane closures are planned for Central St. and Crawford Ave. from Tuesday, January 27 through Friday, January 30 to bring Comcast service to The Little Island restaurant.

Work will take place during daytime hours only, and will involve the temporary closure of the following lanes:

- The right eastbound lane of Central St., from Gross Point Rd. to Crawford Ave.

- The right westbound lane of Central St., from Crawford Ave. to Gross Point Rd.

- The right southbound lane of Crawford Ave., from Gross Point Rd. to Culver St.

The left eastbound and westbound lanes of Central St. and the left southbound lane of Crawford Ave. will remain open and accessible to all vehicular traffic.
