Thanksgiving Crackdown Nets 2 DUIs in Evanston
Several citations and arrests were made during a two-week focus on drunk drivers and seat belt violators in Evanston.

EVANSTON, IL - The Evanston Police Department's crackdown of drunk drivers and seat belt violators during much of November netted several arrests and citations, including two for driving under the influence and 58 for not wearing a seat belt.
The department announced the results of the campaign that ran from Nov. 14 to Nov. 27 earlier this week.
During the operation, Evanston police also handed out six child car seat citations, three driving while license suspended arrests, seven no proof of insurance citations, 13 speeding citations, three no valid drivers license arrests, one possession of open alcohol citation, two possession of cannabis citations, 44 distracted driving/cellular phone citations and ten miscellaneous citations

“Our officers are out year-round. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the violation,” says Sergeant Tracy Williams, supervisor of the Evanston Police Traffic Unit.
