EVANSTON, IL — A third resident of the Three Crowns Park retirement community in Evanston died Tuesday of complications from the new coronavirus, according to facility administrators and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The 87-year-old man lived in the independent living portion of the facility, according to executive director Phil Hemmer. His spouse has also tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus strain, and she remained in quarantine Thursday, Hemmer said in a letter to families and residents.

Hemmer said a Three Crowns nursing staff member has also tested positive. She returned home after developing mild symptoms, and her condition has improved over more than a week at home.
