A Tiny House built by Northwestern students has arrived at the Ecology Center
at 2024 McCormick Blvd. The 128 sq ft home is designed to be completely self-sustaining off the grid. It has solar panels, LED lighting, a 400 gallon water pillow underneath, a low-flow shower and a composting toilet. It will be open for inspection during the Evanston Green Living Festival, which takes place Sat Sept 28 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Center. Pictured with the house is Claire Alden, Program Manager of the EC.
The Tiny House is part of a national movement inspired by the Tumbleweed Tiny House Co. Northwestern engineering students came up with the idea to build one. The bathroom is 4' x 4.5' and the total cost is estimated at $50,000. It's amazing to go inside and see how comfortable and liveable it really looks. This site will be its home for the near future,
