Woman Nearly Raped While Pushing Toddler in Stroller at Evanston Park: Police
The woman's screams and alert witnesses forced the man to flee from Brummel Park Wednesday night, according to police.

EVANSTON, IL — Police in Evanston are investigating an attempted sexual assault that occurred at Brummel Park Wednesday night.
A 38-year-old Evanston woman was pushing her 2-year-old child in a stroller when she was struck in the back of the head and knocked to the ground by a man around 8:40 p.m., according to a police report.
Police say the man — described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic man, 5-foot, 6-inches tall with short hair and a thin beard — began removing the woman’s clothing, but the woman’s screams alerted witnesses in the area.

The man, who was wearing a red tank-top and gray pants at the time of the attack, took off on foot westbound on Dobson Street.
The victim had bruises but did not require medical attention. The child was unharmed.
