Abraham Lincoln Comes To Evergreen Park
EPRD Candlelight Theatre offers entertaining, educational evening

The Evergreen Park Recreation Department Candlelight Theatre would like to invite you to step back into the 1860s this weekend as they present “An Evening With Abraham Lincoln”, which runs for one night only on Saturday evening, November 11 at 7:30pm.
The main feature of the program is Lincoln re-enactor Randy Duncan, who delivers a forty-five minute one-man show, offering stories of the sixteenth president’s youth, formative years and early years in the White House.
The program is prefaced by a half-hour medley of Civil War music, performed by members of the EPRD Candlelight Theatre Ensemble.

Mr. Duncan is a busy Lincoln actor in Springfield, Illinois, which is where the EPRD theatre spokesman saw him this past June, contacting him immediately afterwards about coming to Evergreen Park for a performance.

The performance is, of course, family-friendly, entertaining and educational, particularly for students.
Abraham Lincoln was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky on February 12, 1809 and grew up on farms in Kentucky and Indiana. Self-taught, Lincoln moved to Illinois, making his home in New Salem for six years, serving many jobs until becoming a lawyer in 1836. He served in the Illinois House from 1834-1842 and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from 1847-49. He emerged as an unlikely Republican leader during the later 1850s and was elected to the Presidency in 1860.
Mr. Lincoln’s eloquent, funny and touching monologue takes us through those years.
Tickets are available at the Evergreen Park Community Center, 3450 W. 97th Street during regular weekday business hours.
Tickets will be available at the Senior Center on the night of the performance (cash or check only), though seating in the 100-seat auditorium may be limited.
