American Legion Post 854 Plans Flag Retirement Ceremony For Worn Flags

Residents can still drop off worn flags at American Legion of Evergreen Park 854 for proper disposal Friday, Sept. 27.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Residents are invited to join the American Legion of Evergreen Park Post 854 for an evening of patriotism and community Friday, Sept. 27. The post will be conducting a flag retirement ceremony at 7 p.m.

Hundreds of worn American flags have already been dropped off to be properly retired, but residents can still leave flags in the barrel located inside the main door of Post 854, 9701 S. Kedzie Ave.

The Sons of the American Legion and the Legionnaires will conduct the ceremony. Worn flags will be placed in a beautiful Americana Burn Barrel.

You do not need to be a member of Post 854 to drop off a flag or to watch the ceremony. Members of the post will be available to answer questions about their many events and privileges at “The Hospitality Post.”
