Bail Set at $450,000 for Evergreen Park Home Invaders: Police

Two men were charged in a Sept. 21 home invasion. One suspect is from Oak Lawn, and the other is from Chicago.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Bail was set at $450,000 for two men accused of robbing an Evergreen Park homeowner at knifepoint inside their home on Sept. 21.

Joseph Bobel, 27, of the 9000 block of South Cicero Avenue, Oak Lawn, and Joquwon D. Garcia, 35, of the 13400 block of South Brandon, Chicago, were both charged with home invasion. Both men appeared in court on Sunday at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building.

Evergreen Park police responded to a home invasion the evening of Sept. 21 in the 2900 block of West 99th Place. Police said the suspects had apparently entered through an unlocked back door.

One of the suspects allegedly threatened the resident with a knife and demanded to know where the jewelry and cash were kept; the other stayed in the kitchen.

After taking the loot, Bobel and Garcia fled through the back door, police said. Police apprehended them later that same evening

Both men are due back in court Sept. 27 in Bridgeview.
