EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Beverly author Dennis Foley discusses his latest novel “The Blue Circus,” a part murder mystery, part city worker tell-all, April 25, at the Evergreen Park Public Library. The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m.

Billed as a “microcosm of Chicago politics combined with a family saga,” “The Blue Circus” follows the story of Danny Lonigan, a disbarred attorney turned City of Chicago electrician with the help of his union boss brother. When Danny Lonigan meets a mob-connected city worker named Jimmy "the Hat" Scarpelli, his world is never the same. Thenovel takes place at numerous locations known to Southwest Side residents like the old Dubliner bar, St. Barnabas Church and the minor league field at Beverly Park. One of the main characters lives at 102nd and Bell, while his brother lives over in Mount Greenwood at 106th and Whipple.

Foley, a former Chicago Streets and San employee, has authored “The Streets And Sans Man's Guide To Chicago Eats” and “The Drunkard’s Son.” His indie movie “Not A Stranger,” filmed locally in Evergreen Park, Beverly and Mount Greenwood, won critical acclaim.
