EP Rec Dept STEAM youth classes are a valuable lesson in creativity and construction

(Village of Evergreen Park)

Something new is coming to the Evergreen Park Recreation Department!

If your child has ever shown any interest in construction. . .maybe they are very creative with Legos or any similar creative-nurturing activity. . .they might be interested in our upcoming STEAM program, offered by Quantum Leap STEAM Academy.

STEAM, of course, is the short name for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math; and all of them combined make for an interesting set of classes for kids age 4-6 and 7-9.

Kids will have a blast learning how science, technology, engineering and math shapes our community. An architect will guide young learners through building model bridges, houses and other structures we typically see in Evergreen Park and Chicago’s South Side. STEAM education sparks inquiry, fosters creativity and helps children develop problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills.

Classes will be held on Thursdays, beginning April 3 through May 15. This six-week session takes place at the Community Center, 3450 W. 97th Street.

Kids age 4-6 can sign up for the 4pm class; kids from ages 7-9 will follow from 5pm to 6pm.

The cost is only $120 for all six classes and can be done by registering online or at the Recreation Department.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to help your child explore STEAM in our community. And if you cannot make this class session, don’t worry. . .there are more coming this summer!
