Chicago Man Tries To Pass Fake $100 Bill At Menards: POLICE
The store manager scanned the one-hundred dollar bill and determined it was fake, prosecutor said.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Evergreen Park police arrested a 21-year-old man after he tried to pass a counterfeit one-hundred dollar bill at Menards, prosecutors said. Lazerick Smythe, of Chicago, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a charge of forgery. Smythe has other pending cases, according to court records.
The prosecutor said Smythe went to the Menards store on 91st Street and Western Avenue in Evergreen Park on Nov. 26. After selecting merchandise and going through the cashier line, the prosecutor said Smythe presented a one-hundred dollar bill. Per a store policy, the cashier called a manager to come authenticate the bill. The manager scanned the bill and determined it was counterfeit, the prosecutor said. The U.S Secret Service also confirmed the bill was fake.
Bail was set at $25,000. Smythe’s next court appearance is Dec. 14 in Bridgeview.
