Crack And Heroin Found Hidden In Shoe During Traffic Stop: Cops

Evergreen Park police find drugs hidden in shoe during traffic stop, prosecutor said.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Crack rocks and heroin were found in a car after police stopped the driver during a traffic stop, prosecutors said. Ryan Lasso, 31, of Columbia, IL, and his 33-year-old girlfriend, Jessica Kelly, of Soto, MO, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on charges of possession of a controlled substance. Lasso was stopped for allegedly talking in his cell phone.

According to the charges, police pulled Lasso over around 7 p.m. Dec. 5 near 95th Street and St. Louis Avenue in Evergreen Park. Kelly was the only passenger in the car. Police said they found a glass pipe, three suspect crack rocks and two plastic bags of suspect heroin inside a larger plastic bag hidden in a shoe between the front passenger and driver’s seats.

Lasso and Kelly allegedly told police they went to a Citgo station to buy drugs from a woman. The two exchanged merchandise they had stolen from various stores in exchange for the drugs, the prosecutor said.
