Evergreen Park Announces Final Lineup For Independence Day Parade

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- The Village of Evergreen Park is moving forward with plans and preparations for the Independence Day Parade this Wednesday, July 3, despite the forecast of isolated rain. This is the village’s 51st edition of this south suburban pre-Fourth of July parade. Fireworks will immediately follow the parade around 9:15 p.m. at Duffy Park.

The parade steps off 6:30 p.m. from Springfield and 95th Street, east on 95th Street to Richmond Avenue, and north on Richmond to 91st Street where the parade disbands.

Retiring recreation director Dennis Duffy will being doing the grand marshal honors. The parade features a cast of hundreds of residents from Evergreen Park schools, places of worship, businesses, institutions, scout troops and a politician or two.

Parents are reminded to not allow their children to run toward the parade floats for candy. The parade entries have been director hand out candy and other giveaways curbside. In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks will be rescheduled for Friday evening, July 5. There will be no rain date for the parade, so let’s not even consider the possibility.

Evergreen Park Village Hall will be closing at noon Wednesday, July 3, and will remain closed on Thursday for the July 4 holiday. Village hall will reopen at 9 a.m. Friday, July 5.
