Evergreen OCS Greets The Autumn!
EP Office of Citizens' Services brings September and October events, including the Village Garage Sale, Luncheons and Day Trips
The Office of Citizens’ Services will hit September with its feet moving, having several events and programs on the schedule that are mainstays in Evergreen Park.
First on the docket is the annual “Memories To Go” Village wide Garage Sale. This event, coordinated by the Evergreen Park Senior Council, will take place on Saturday, September 6 at Yukich Fields, 89th and Kedzie, from 9:00am to 2:00pm.
“The ‘Memories To Go’ is the major fundraiser for the Senior Council,” commented Beth Novotney, OCS Director. “The proceeds come from the booth fees at the event, which supplements several of our senior programs.”

The vendor spaces can be found inside the Capuano Ice Rink and in the parking lot area outside. The venue is packed with sellers; shoppers will have many booths from which to browse and buy. The garage sale has been an annual favorite event and buyers can always find something of interest.
A few weeks later, the Senior Council will begin a new season of monthly luncheons after a summer hiatus. Seniors who purchase tickets for the Thursday, September 18 event will be treated to a delicious Chicken Tetrazzini meal. Dr. Michael Hana, founder of Joint Relief Institute, will give a short talk on “Living Pain Free from Joint Pain”. Following the lunch, audience will be entertained by the music of vocalist Kenneth Dowell. Tickets are $10 and can purchased at the OCS Office, 3450 W. 97th Street, by Friday, September 12.

“You’ll still got a chance to get on some of our day trips,” Ms. Novotney continued. “We plan a full schedule of day trips throughout the year and we’ve got two good ones coming up!”
A trip to Peter Patterson Glassworks, in Mundelein, is coming on Wednesday, October 29. For a cost of $110, visitors will take the deluxe motorcoach to the factory and explore the world of art beyond paper. Following the interesting tour, guests will have lunch at Lindy’s Landing in Wauconda.
The final day trip of the year is an excursion to Sanfilippo Mansion in Barrington, which takes place on Thursday, December 4. This is one of the area’s most popular tours, which includes an upscale holiday meal and then a ninety-minute Christmas concert as played on a Wurlitzer organ in the mansion’s theatre. The trip runs $150.
Registration deadline for both trips is Monday, September 29; registration can be made at the OCS office.
