Evergreen Park Celebrates 'A Day In the Park,' June 24

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- The biggest block party in Evergreen Park -- “Day in the Park” -- kicks off Saturday, June 24, at Klein Park at 3450 W. 97th St.

The day starts off with a brisk 5K Run/2m Walk at 8:30 a.m., starting and ending in Klein Park. Run or walk for charity through Evergreen Park’s neighborhoods with proceeds benefiting a local autism agency. All ages and fitness levels welcome. Early bird registration for the 5K run/$2M walk is $30 for adults; $25 per person for family teams (limit of three persons; everyone must fill out a form). There’s a free junior run for children under 12. Early bird registration ends Friday, June 23.

Race day registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Registration fees increases $5. Everyone gets a shirt, courtesy of United Homeowners of Evergreen Park. The run and walk features a TAC certified course

After the race, stay for the food vendors and beer and garden garden, fire and police vehicles in display, family crafts, music and entertainment, pony rides, petting zoo, dancers and more. The day caps off a concert by South City Revival.

Noon- dusk - Arts and craft displays (located in front of the building)
Noon- 8:45 p.m. - Music and entertainment
1 p.m. - Recreation Department Dancers
1 p.m.- 4 p.m. - Fire Department Jump House, sponsored by Evergreen Park Fire Department
1 p.m.- 4 p.m. - Pony Rides and petting zoo, sponsored by the Evergreen Park Police Association
1 p.m.- 5 p.m. Face painting
1 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Rock climbing wall
6:30- 8:45 p.m. - Live music - South City Revival
