All this, topped off with a Christmastime trip to the Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington to take in the wonders of the spectacular mansion, the Carousel Building and more, concluding with a holiday organ concert in the Mansion’s theatre.
“Our travelers love the short trips for many reasons,” said Beth Novotney, OCS Director. “We’ve been able to enjoy some very nice locations, not too far away, but very appealing. Plus, you’re spending time with people on a nice motorcoach bus ride, and, along with a nice luncheon included. . .it’s always a perfect day.”
The two-day trip to Springfield takes place on June 25th and 26th, with an overnight stay at the Comfort Inn-Springfield. The overnight helps eliminate the need to rush through some of the interesting places in our state’s capital, including the Lincoln Historic area. A delicious dinner at Maldaner’s on the 25th is a relaxing midpoint of the trip. The cost is $399 for a single and $329 per person for double occupancy. Registration deadline is Monday, May 12.
A daytime trip to the Pullman National Monument takes place on Thursday, August 14. The trip includes stops at the Visitor Center, Exhibition Hall and a short tour of the neighborhood, complete with a lunch at the picturesque Harborside International Golf Center on Lake Calumet. All this for only $105! (Register by Friday, July 11).
The autumn trip to Indiana Amish Country takes place on Tuesday, September 16, with visits to the shops and markets. A highlight of your day will be lunch at an Amish family home, where you are treated to fine hospitality and a delicious home-cooked Amish Thresher meal. $120 inclusive!
Two more trips round out the schedule; a journey to Patterson Glassworks on Wednesday, October 29 ($110 per person), and then a festive tour of the Sanfilippo Estate on Thursday, December 4, which includes that delightful Christmas Concert ($150 per person).
Information on any of these trips can be found by calling (708) 422-8776.
