Fatal Shooting In Evergreen Park Ruled A Homicide: ME

Cook County Medical Examiner rules man found fatally shot Saturday morning in an Evergreen Park residence a homicide.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — A fatal shooting in an Evergreen Park residence on New Year's Eve morning has been ruled a homicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Around 9:15 a.m. Friday, Evergreen Park police received a complaint of shots fired in the 8800 block of South California Avenue. Officers along with village paramedics attended to the injured male person, who had been shot, police said in a news release.

The man was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. Reports from the medical examiner's office indicated the man died of multiple gunshot wounds. The medical examiner is withholding the name of the man pending notification of family.

A person of interest has been taken into custody by Evergreen Park police. The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting in the investigation.
