Man Wanted On Warrants Found Hiding In Chest: Cops

Evergreen Park police search home where they found the man hiding in a chest as well as 39 suboxone strips, prosecutor said.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- A man wanted on several outstanding warrants was found hiding inside his home in a chest, prosecutors said. Todd Sloan, 36, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis in a wheelchair on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

Knowing Sloan had several warrants, police saw him entering a residence in the 8800 block of South Francisco Avenue in Evergreen Park around 6 p.m. May 28, according to the charges. Police said they were allowed to search the home, where they found Sloan hiding in a chest. Lying in plain view on the nightstand were nine suboxone strips on a nightstand in the bedroom, the prosecutor said. Police also claimed to have found two burnt metal pipes with suspected crack-cocaine residue.

Sloan has a pending case for domestic battery from October 2018, in which he is accused of breaking the entry door and getting into an argument while high on alcohol and drugs.

The assistant public defender said that Sloan used a wheelchair because he got beat up in February with a baseball bat and suffered brain damage. He is currently living with his girlfriend at the Francisco Avenue address.

Sloan was released on $10,000 I-bond with electronic home monitoring. Sloan’s next court date is June 20 in Bridgeview.
