Oak Lawn Woman Accused Of Making Social Media Threat
Prosecutor said dispute began on social media when woman told another she hoped her kids died in a school shooting.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- An 18-year-old Oak Lawn woman is accused of making a social media threat against a woman in Evergreen Park. Alyssa Palm appeared before Cook County Judge Michael Kane on a charge of disorderly conduct. Palm was arrested on March 12.
According to the charges, Palm was selling auto show tickets on Facebook, but the tickets turned out to be counterfeit. The prosecutor said Palm didn’t know the tickets were fake and told people to send her a private message for a refund. When the PayPal refund did not go through, the prosecutor said that Palm began arguing with the woman over Facebook Messenger.
Palm allegedly told the woman that “maybe another school shooting will happen at your kids’ school, but only your kids die.”

Palm’s attorney told the judge that no one in Palm’s family owns guns. She has no access to guns.
“I kind of scoff when people say it’s a misunderstanding,” the attorney said. “She’s arguing with someone on Facebook. I don’t think there was any intent to do harm to a school.”

The prosecutor said Palm has no prior criminal background. A court safety assessment recommended Palm for release with no conditions.
“I can’ imagine releasing this 18-year-old into society with no conditions,” Kane said.
Kane set bail at $5,000. Palm was ordered to home confinement when she wasn’t working. She’s due back in court April 4 in Bridgeview.
