Opening Night Arts Group brings holiday cheer with “Scrooge and Marley: A Christmas Carol”

Opening Night Arts Group (ONAG), a local arts organization that produces several adult and teen shows each year, is set to take the stage in their 6th annual production of “Scrooge and Marley: A Christmas Carol” Dec. 11-13. ONAG’s Young Actors Studio program will present the “It’s a Wonderful Life” prior to each “Scrooge and Marley: A Christmas Carol” performance. Cast members are comprised of students and residents from the Chicagoland area, including Beverly, Orland Park, Oak Lawn and Evergreen Park.

In the spirit of the holiday season, a portion of the proceeds will benefit local charity organization The Courage Program. The Courage Program is a program for young single mothers and their children that provides a variety of services, including free counseling, educational programs, social opportunities, and rental assistance.

“Raising awareness and funds for those in need is a core principle of Opening Night Arts Group,” said ONAG president Dennis Dawe. “We are so pleased to be supporting The Courage Program and their efforts with proceeds from this year’s annual holiday productions.”

Both shows will run Dec. 11-13 in the Kallemeyn Theatre at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights. “Scrooge and Marley: A Christmas Carol” begins at 8:30 p.m. “It’s a Wonderful Life” begins at 7:00 p.m. with an additional matinee performance Dec. 13 at 3:00pm. Opening Night Arts Group provides a stage for adults and children to showcase and develop their talents while providing the highest level of artistic productions for the public. The group also works to further the promotion of the fine and performing arts as a whole. Opening Night Arts Group’s other projects include classes and workshops for children and adults. It is part of Opening Night Arts Group’s mission to give to the community and therefore support a charitable cause from the proceeds of each production.
