Overnight Fire Damages Hometown Duplex
Fire broke out late Tuesday evening in 8800 block of South Kolamr Avenue.

Hometown, IL, May 25, 2016 -- A duplex in Hometown caught fire late Tuesday evening, damaging two connected homes.
The fire was reported around 11:20 p.m. in the 8800 block of Kolmar. Neighbors said it looked like the flames were coming from the rear of the structure.

“I was closing my window and seen the house on fire,” resident Jamie Gattone said. “I called 911 and they had someone already en route.”

Gattone said the Oak Lawn Fire Department was the first to arrive, followed by Evergreen Park and Hometown. Firefighters from Chicago Ridge, Bedford Park and North Palos also jumped in.
Preliminary reports indicate that the blaze may have started on a rear deck and extended into the duplex. The fire was knocked out in about 20 minutes.
No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
