Photoshopped Driver's License Lands Maywood Man In Jail: Cops
Maywood man with 11 felony convictions for financial crimes said he was "doing a favor for a friend" buying stuff with fake ID, cops say.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- A Maywood man tried to purchase over $2,000 worth of merchandise at an Evergreen Park big box store using a photoshopped driver’s license, prosecutors said. Darnell Murry, 43 appeared before Cook County Judge Michael Kane on felony charges of theft and possession of a fraudulent ID. Murry is currently on parole for financial crimes, according to state records.
According to the charges, Murry went to the Menards store at 9100 S. Western Ave. in Evergreen Park around 12:40 p.m. April 4. The prosecutor said Murry tried to purchase $2,566 in merchandise using a Menard Big Card application with another person’s information. Murray allegedly presented a fake driver’s license with his photo but the other person’s information.
The cashier thought the driver’s license looked fishy and requested loss prevention’s approval of the application from store security. The loss prevention officer asked Murry to hand over the alleged fake driver’s license. Murry left the store and got into a Uhaul truck with two other men. Evergreen Park police officers followed the truck to a nearby dollar store. Murry was detained. The loss prevention officer arrived and positively identified Murry, the prosecutor said.

Murry allegedly told police that he was aware he was using a fake driver’s license and was “doing a favor for a friend.” He texted a picture of himself to a friend in Plainfield who makes fake driver’s licenses, the prosecutor said. The “friend” was paying him a couple hundred bucks to buy the merchandise, according to police.
The prosecutor said that Murry is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections for continuing a financial crime enterprise and income tax fraud. His projected parole date is 2020. Murry has 11 past convictions and prison sentences for theft, forgery and misuse of a credit card.
