Report Of Man Grabbing Southeast Student Under Investigation
Police are investigating report of a masked man trying to grab a Southeast student near a park. Report not yet confirmed.
EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Evergreen Park police are investigating a report of a masked man attempting to grab a Southeast Elementary School student near a park. Dist. 124 officials sent an email blast Thursday morning informing parents of the investigation.
Dist. 124 officials said the student informed the office at Southeast school of yesterday’s incident at the beginning of the school day. At approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, a masked man tried to grab the student’s backpack and arm near Veterans Park at 97th Street and California Avenue.
“The report has not been confirmed. We are informing you out of an abundance of caution. The district is working alongside the Evergreen Park Police Department to further investigate this incident and will update you with any new information,” D124 officials said in their statement.

Police could not immediately be reached for comment.
“That’s all we know at the moment, police are investigating,” D124 spokesman Alex Mayster said. “We put this out there because we felt it was our responsibility to inform the community of this incident.”
