4 'Persons of Interest' In Custody In East Beverly Shooting

Confrontation in East Beverly Saturday evening ends in gunfire exchange, cops say.

CHICAGO, IL -- At least two people were wounded after an exchange of gunfire Saturday evening in East Beverly. The Sun-Times is reporting the incident as a drive-by shooting. The two individuals were taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds, according to a public safety updted from the 19th Ward.

The confrontation been a group of young adults happened shortly after 7 p.m. in the 1400 block of West 103rd Street. The dispute quickly escalated into gunfire. Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) said that Chicago police responded quickly and apprehended “multiple subjects.”

Police were said to have recovered multiple firearms and now have people of interest in custody.

“None of the individuals involved are members of our community. I am patiently awaiting word on the filing of charges by the Cook County State's Attorney,” O’Shea said in an email blast to residents.

The Chicago Police Area South detectives are investigating the incident. Residents are urged to call 911 if they witness suspicious behavior.
