Justice Woman Caught In Stolen Car On Christmas Day: Cops

Alleged Christmas Day car swiping results in arrest.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A Justice woman was arrested Christmas Day when police found her driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen, prosecutors said. Beata Drag, 43, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Around 5:11 p.m., Justice police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by a woman later identified as Drag. When officers ran the plates the vehicle came back as being reported stolen, the prosecutor said.

Drag served 12-month sentences for retail theft and battery in the Cook County Department of Corrections.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Drag has a bachelor’s and medical degree. She claims to be a doctor and a therapist. Drag appears in Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulation records as a licensed nail technician from 2005. According to records, she did not renew her license.

Bail was set at $10,000. Drag’s next court hearing is Jan. 23 in Bridgeview.
