GoFundMe Set Up For Burbank Woman Injured In Wrong-Way DUI Crash
Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe campaign for a pregnant Burbank woman seriously injured Easter Sunday in wrong-way DUI crash.

BURBANK, IL -- Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe campaign for a Burbank woman who underwent an emergency c-section after she was hit head-on by an alleged drunk driver on Easter Sunday. A Plainfield man has been charged with DUI in an accident authorities say was entirely avoidable.
Kelly Esch, a life-long Burbank resident, was heading northbound on I-355 around 5:30 a.m. April 21 near Butterfield Road in Downers Grove, when she saw headlights coming toward her. She was hit head-on by a Plainfield man who police say was driving the wrong way down the interstate highway. Passers-by pulled Esch from her burning car.

The crash forced doctors to conduct an emergency c-section on the woman when they couldn’t detect a heartbeat or movement from the baby. Baby Anthony was delivered six weeks early and is currently in the neonatal intensive care, authorities say.
Esch sustained a fractured leg and a broken ankle and will require surgery on her hip. Family and friends say the new mom faces a long and painful recovery. Funds raised from the online campaign will go toward medical expenses and to help the family with other daily expenses. To make a donation, visit the Kelly Esch and Baby Anthony GoFundMe campaign.
