School Security Guard Packed Loaded .38 on Way to Church: Cops
Evergreen Park police find loaded .38 in Chicago public school security guard's vehicle in traffic stop, prosecutor says.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Evergreen Park police arrested a Chicago public school security guard after officers found a loaded gun in his car during a traffic stop, prosecutors said.
Charges for Richard Burns were upgraded from a misdemeanor to felony unlawful use of a weapon during a court hearing on Wednesday.
According to the charges, the 56-year-old man was pulled over on Nov. 23 for driving on a suspended license. During a search of his vehicle, officers found a loaded .38 in the driver side door pocket with five live rounds in the chamber.

Police said Burns told them he was on his way to church where he “oversees things” when he was pulled over.
Burns had a valid FOID card, but did not have a conceal-carry permit, prosecutors said.

Bail was set at $3,000.
