According to the charges, Oak Lawn cops went to investigate a report of a slumper inside a vehicle in 7-Eleven parking lot at 10441 S. Cicero Ave. around 8:55 p.m. Monday.

Police said they found Cardinal asleep in his car. Laying in plain view on the front seat was a packet Scooby Snax-brand synthetic cannabis.

The prosecutor said Cardinal had no prior criminal background.

The public defender told the judge his client works full-time and is scheduled to register for college next week. He said Cardinal’s family did not have money for bond.

The judge set bail at $15,000 and ordered random drug testing should Cardinal bond out.

Cardinal told the judge that if he was in jail, he wouldn’t be able to register for college classes.

“Did you ever hear of consequences,” Judge Felice asked.

Cardinal is due back in court on Dec. 7 in Bridgeview.
