Sports Authority Gets Grand Re-Opening Makeover

Oak Lawn’s Sports Authority has undergone a makeover and to celebrate the store is hosting a grand re-opening starting this weekend, May 16-17.

Sports Authority, located in the Green Oak Shopping Center at 9633 S. Cicero Ave. (95th and Cicero), is planning some special in-store promotions and a visit from Cubs Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins.

The redesigned store will offer the same top brands like Nike, Under Armour, adidas, North Face and more.

“We are very excited about the grand reopening of this store,” said CEO Michael Foss said in a news release. “Sports Authority believes in bringing communities together through the good of sport, and we are committed to providing great value and outstanding service to the families and recreational athletes in the Oak Lawn area.”

The fun starts at 8 a.m. Saturday when Sports Authority will throw open its doors. Grand reopening events and promotions include:

Saturday only

• Starting at 8 a.m., the first 100 customers in line will receive a $25 Instant Sports Authority Cash Card. The 101st–200th customers in line will receive a $10 cash card.
• Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins will be making an appearance from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday

• Customers can register for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree.

Sunday only

• The first 200 customers to spend $15 or more will receive a free camp chair.

Customers are also invited to join The League, Sports Authority’s member program, which gives members a point for every dollar spent. Within a quarterly period, members who earn 100 points or more will receive 5% back on all in-store and online purchases.

Following the grand reopening, regular store hours will be Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit Sports Authority-Oak Lawn.
