Team USA Wins Gold Medal, 2-1 Overtime, Against Team Canada In Olympic Women's Hockey
Megan Keller's overtime goal puts Team USA on topof Canada, 2-1, to win the gold medal for women's hockey in the Winter Olympics.

MILAN — Team USA beat Team Canada in the 2026 Winter Olympics to win the gold medal game Thurday afternoon, winning 2-1 in overtime in Milan.
The tables were turned from four years ago, when the U.S. team lost a heartbreaker to the Canadians in 2022, taking home the silver.
The U.S. dominated the preliminary, quarter and semi-finals with a five-game shutout streak, broken by Kristin O’Neill who scored the only goal for Canada in the gold medal game.

The U.S. trailed Canada for more most of the game until Megan Keller's dazzling golden goal in overtime.
Team USA captain and five-time Olympian Hilary Knight tied the game with 2:04 remaining in the third period for the U.S. with the extra attacker. Knight, appearing in her last Olympics, became the all-time leader in Olympic points and goals in U.S. women’s hockey history in regulation.

The U.S. wins its third gold medal in women’s Olympic hockey (1998, 2018) tying rival Canada 3-for-3 since women’s hockey was added to Winter Olympic events in 1998. Canada and the Unitied States women’s hockey teams are the only countries to win the gold.
Switzerland beat Sweden in the bronze medal game.
