EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Evergreen Park police hauled in five ounces of heroin and a little over a pound of cannabis when they stopped a Chicago woman for speeding, prosecutors said. Jasmine Williams, 26, appeared before Cook County Judge Terry Gallagher on felony charges of unlawful delivery of cannabis and unlawful possession of pot. Ross was also charged with a misdemeanor for obstructing justice.

Around 1 a.m. April 24, officers observed a driver, later identified as Williams, allegedly traveling 51-mph in a 30-mph speed zone down 95th Street. The prosecutor said Williams gave a fake name to police because she was driving on a suspended license. When she was asked to step out of her car, Williams allegedly asked the officer to grab $4,000 cash for her from under the steering column.

While searching the vehicle, the prosecutor said police found an Ugg shoe box under the spare tire in Williams’ trunk containing 166.4 grams — about 5 ounces — of what tested positive for heroin, along with five pounds of cannabis.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Williams is a Bogan High School graduate and works full time managing a fast food restaurant. He said Williams did not have knowledge of the contraband in the car.

Williams was issued a violation of probation on a 2015 charge for unauthorized use of a credit card in Iowa, the prosecutor said. Bail was set at $50,000. Williams’ next court date is May 23 in Bridgeview.
