During lunches on January 14, EPCHS student and staff were invited to the choir room to hear No Strings Attached, a co-ed a cappella group from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The group is one of eight student-run a cappella groups at UIUC, and they came to perform as part of their annual Winter tour. Benas Alcauskas, bass, is an EPCHS alum from the Class of 2018.

No Strings Attached is celebrating their 25th year in 2020, and Mrs. Kazin, the EPCHS Choir director, was their original music director. Mrs. Kazin said, “We are so fortunate to have these young people share their passion and talents with our students! On a personal level, it's so rewarding to see that something that was started by a group of friends 25 years ago is thriving on campus today. Having Benas in the group now is just icing on the cake for me.”

No Strings Attached is the principal co-ed jazz a cappella group at the U of I. Currently a 17-member undergraduate Registered Student Organization (RSO), No Strings Attached was founded in 1994 by students from a campus theater group. Since then, they have recorded several CD's, taken 4th Place at their 2019 ICCA Quarterfinal at Illinois State University, and performed all over the Midwest.
