Violent Crime Dipped Slightly in Evergreen Park: FBI Report

The FBI has released the 2014 Unified Crime Report.

The FBI recently released its annual ”Crime in the United States” report, which includes information about Evergreen Park.

According to the report, Evergreen Park saw 27 violent crimes in 2014. Violent crime includes offenses involving force or the threat of force: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, according to the FBI. That is a slight decrease in violent crimes from the 28 reported in 2013.

There were no rapes or murders recorded in Evergreen Park last year, but eight aggravated assaults and 19 robberies were logged. That is a slight decrease since 2013, when Evergreen Park saw 28 violent crimes including one murder and 20 robberies. Aggravated assault remained stagnant at eight. As in 2014, there were no rapes reported in 2013.

Other 2014 crime stats for Evergreen Park include 569 property crimes, 43 burglaries and 501 reports of larceny/theft. Also, there were 25 motor vehicle thefts and two arsons.

In 2013, there were 617 larceny/thefts, 62 burglaries, ten cases of motor vehicle theft, and one arson.

Nationally, violent crime decreased nationally last year by 0.2 percent from 2013, according to the report.
