Wife Stabs Hubby With Steak Knife in Bed: Prosecutor

HICKORY HILLS, IL -- A Hickory Hills woman stabbed her husband of nine years with a steak knife while he was asleep in bed, prosecutors said Friday in court.

Tina Olison Jones, 51, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of aggravated battery.

Around 1 a.m. April 21, prosecutors said Jones’ husband was sleeping in their bedroom when he heard Jones knocking on the kitchen window. He let his wife into the house, the man went back to bed.

According to the charges, after spending some time in the kitchen, Jones got a steak knife and went into the bedroom where her husband was sleeping.

Prosecutors said Jones got on top of her husband and stabbed him in the torso with the steak knife. The man also suffered cuts to his hands when he tried grabbing the knife from his wife.

The man was taken to Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, where he was being treated for a non life-threatening stab wound. Prosecutors said the man did not require surgery and was expected to be released.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Jones had a “knot” over eye.

“We will be able to show that the victim was the aggressor,” the assistant public defender said.

Jones has no prior criminal background.

Judge Felice set bail at $30,000. He ordered Jones to stay away from her husband, and to call Hickory Hills police to retrieve her personal belongings.

“If he claims ownership of anything, even if it’s a dress, there will be no arguing and you are to leave it,” the judge said. “This is an extreme act of violence.”

Jones’ next court hearing is May 16 in Bridgeview.
