2 Men Get 120 Years for Sexually Assaulting Teens in Maywood

Prosecutors said men lured teens into an alley to sell them drugs, then sexually assaulted the two females while holding them at gunpoint.

Two men convicted of robbing and brutally sexually assaulting two teen girls in Maywood have each been sentenced to 120 years in prison, according to the office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.

Cortez Lyons, 25, and Timothy Moore, 26, were both charged with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault for an attack on three teens in a Maywood alley in 2006. The two were convicted of the crimes last March by a Cook County jury and sentenced to 120-year prison terms this week, according to a news release from the State's Attorney's office.

Prosecutors said Lyons approached two of the victims while they sat in a car outside a gas station near 5th Avenue in Maywood and offered to sell them marijuana. After the third victim returned to the car, the three were instructed to drive down a one-way alley behind the building. When the three teens arrived in the alley, Lyons then approached the car, produced a handgun and robbed all three victims. At this point, Moore and a third defendant, Christopher Pittman arrived at the scene armed with handguns.

After searching the car and the victim’s purses, Moore and Lyons ordered the female victims to perform oral sex on them at gunpoint.  The male teen victim was forced to watch the act from the backseat.  Lyons and Moore then raped both of the female victims.  The defendants continued the assault until Maywood police officers arrived, at which time they fled the scene.

During the investigation the victims identified the men after seeing a surveillance video from the gas station.

Cook County Judge Paula Daleo sentenced Lyons and Moore to the 120 year prison terms during a court hearing Tuesday evening at the Maywood Courthouse. Pittman’s criminal trial is currently pending, according to the release.
